17.5″ Pfiff Saddlery Gotthardt Jump Saddle

$399.00

It’s not often we get stumped about a brand of saddle or tack, but this one really did stump us and sent us down a rabbit hole of research. Saddles and tack made now under the name Pfiff Saddlery are truly economy, but this saddle is far from economy. This one is older (1998 model) and was made when the company was all handmade and made in Germany. If you think this one looks like an older Passier, you’d be right! One of the foundational saddlers got their start with Passier! In fact, this saddle’s tree shape is very similar to Passier, with a curvier tree and high head style pommel that gives great wither clearance. This one is on a Wide/X-Wide tree, measuring 5.5″ with a wide channel and low rear gussets, making this a great option for a round shaped horse. Offers a roomy/generous 17.5″ seat that has a very narrow twist and more open seat, very much like a hunter seat. This is a jump saddle, but the flap is a bit wider and straighter, and paired with the forward set front flap/knee rolls, this one is the perfect combo between a jump and close contact. Flaps measure 13.5″ and has both a high knee block and thigh block. This one has been a favorite of its last rider, but very well cared for. Leather is very soft, flocking has been maintained, and shows less use than you’d expect. All black leather with a sharp gold welting along the seat. Has a few small nicks, some very minor cracking, but overall its a very solid saddle. Will need billets sooner rather than later, but still has life left in it. We’ve gone through this one and its solid! At this price, it’s so darn affordable and ready to get another rider started in English!
