18″ Kloster Schonthal Dressage Saddle w/ Tack

Here is an oldie, but goodie. One that shows well made saddles will last forever. This one is made by the historic German saddler Kloster Schonthal, which has turned into Courbette/Lemetex in recent years, so you will recognize the red cross with those brands. This one is well over 30 years old, but has been well cared for in its life. Soft, supple, and ready to go! Measures and fits true to 18″, offering a narrow twist and a shallower seat. This one is not stamped with a tree measurement, so we are going off of measurements and fit. Offers a quasi high head tree, with ample wither clearance and measures 4.5″, fitting slightly on the wide side of Medium. Moderate channel width. Straighter flap that measures 15″.  We fondly refer to the flaps on a saddle like this as ‘pancake flaps’ meaning, it has no external knee rolls or blocking. Technically, this one does have a very low, long wool flocked block–but let’s be real, that is more a speed bump than a knee block. For riders who appreciate a more classic saddle without the confining feel of a block-this one is for you! As you’re riding in a saddle like this, just imagine famed Olympic trainer George Morris yelling at you across the arena. “You don’t need those damn blocks, use your legs. “ONLY THE WEAK NEED KNEE ROLLS.” This saddle is a great addition to your fitness plan or for those of you who want to grow up to be like George Morris. You’ll have legs of steal before you know it (;   This saddle has a short panel at 19.5″, wool flocked with the flocking in decent condition. Billets are in very good condition. Is AP billeted. Comes fitted with matching leathers and a pair of older irons. Yes, its an older saddle but has been well cared for and has far more life left in it. At this price…well, its cheaper than most gym memberships!
