13.5” Texas Saddlery Youth Saddle

Kids can be expensive….horse kids can be REALLY expensive. We get it, when they grow it can take a miracle to keep them in fitting jeans, shoes, and saddles. If you need an ‘in between saddle’ that doesn’t break the bank, this one is for you! From Texas Saddlery, this youth barrel saddle is cute enough, comfortable, offers plenty of room in the fenders, and is incredibly affordable. Technically, this one is a 14″ seat, but with the higher cantle and padding, fits and measures true to 13.5″. On Pony/Semi Bars that measures 6″ with decent wither clearance and fits flatter through the bars. Perfect for those chunkier, short backed ponies out there. Has a true youth fender on it, going very short and has room for more holes if needed. Texas Saddlery is more of an economy brand, and this saddle has the feel of a mid-line quality saddle. It’s last kiddo got their use out of it, that’s for sure. It has been ridden a ton and the kiddo was a bit of a daredevil, so it has some bumps and bruises but has plenty of life left in it. It has a very random chunk taken out of the leather under the pommel where you can see the tree, but the leather isn’t tearing or the hole becoming bigger. There’s a bit of fraying along the top of the rawhide horn, and the lacing along the cantle shows some considerable rubbing, down to the rope (that makes the lacing shape). Despite the cosmetic wear and tear, this saddle is completely sound. Is it pretty?–no. Is it sound, safe, and affordable?…YES! This is the prefect saddle to get your kiddo through until they get through their growth spurt!
