If you appreciate saddles with a classic look, you will definitely appreciate this one! This older Hereford is one that was made when saddles were hand built and hand tooled. This 15″ Hereford looks to be an All Around Pleasure/Equitation saddle, with a duck bill style horn (2.5″) that likely could hold up to some work. The deep seat (3″ cantle) and raised twist makes this one so comfortable. On what appears to be Arab Bars, with a QH bars type fit, that measure 7″ with a wider flare, perfect for a horse with a tall wither and wider shoulder, but still needing some rock. Don’t let the word “Arab” scare you away. All that means is that it has a shorter bar angle in the front. Surprisingly short skirt at just 24″, and has very adjustable fenders, easily going long enough for a leggy rider. What really sets this saddle aside from the other is the tooling. This one is fully tooled with classic oak leaf and acorns that is deep and so attractive. Comes fitted. This saddle has built in 1988 if we are reading the serial number correctly, and despite its age, it’s in good condition. Clearly not abused, but has been neglected a bit so the leather has tried out just a bit. With just a bit of oiling the leather has come back brilliantly. The front skirts show just a bit of curling from being set on its horn a bit too often, shows a couple minor marks from time/use and the near side latigo keeper is torn at the slot. Overall, this saddle is absolutely lovely and ready for far more ride time. At this price, you can’t go wrong!
