Grading used saddles and tack
We try to use consistent language in all of our listings, but what is excellent used to one person, may be well used to another. Here is what we mean when we describe each item listed. Remember, regardless of use, we thoroughly inspect each item.
| A+ | NEW WITH TAGS (NWT) These items are new, never used and still have their tags on them. While they may show a mark or two from storage, transport, ect.-they haven’t been used. |
| A | NEW WITHOUT TAGS (NWOT) These items are new, never used but no longer have their tags. While they may show a mark or two from storage, transport, ect.-they haven’t been used. |
| A | NEW, OLD STOCK (NOS) These items are new, never used, but are old stock inventory. Meaning they were either in storage, are from closed businesses, discontinued, ect. These items may or may not have tags, but haven’t been used. May show a mark or two from storage. |
| A- | DEMO Demo tack or saddles are often available for clients to either try, are available in shops, or to try on horses/people. Often these items have been sat in, lightly used, adjusted, and handled but haven’t seen significant use. Often, these items still have their tags and are near pristine. |
| B+ | EXCELLENT USED CONDITION (EUC) These items are very lightly used, well cared for, and show light/minor signs of use. They may show minor marking, scuffs, or wear but any wear shown is light and minimal. |
| B | VERY GOOD USED (VGU) These items are lightly used and well cared for, showing less than typical signs of wear from use, but you can tell the item has been used. May show minor discoloration, scuffs, scratches, ect. but all minimal. |
| C | GOOD USED (GU) These items have seen use, show cosmetic wear such as scratches, scuffs, scrapes, may have had repairs, may be dry or cracked, but is still safe/sound/usable. Often, these items have been refurbished or repaired by us. Sometimes these items need additional attention such as leather conditioning. |
| C- | WELL USED (WU) These items have seen significant use, show cosmetic damage, have had visible and obvious repairs, and this wear impacts attractiveness of the item. Despite use, are still safe/sound/usable, but are nearing the end of its use lifespan. |
| F | DECOR ONLY These items are often very old/antique, are very well used and are either no longer repairable or usable, but still have value as a decor item. Often, we will remove key parts of the item to ensure they are not to be used again in the future (ie-cutting billets off English Saddles). |
