4 7/16″ Maheu Hinged Short Shank Curb Bit

This is such a nice bit from famed bit maker, Ray Maheu. This one is in very used condition. Has a nice, non-standard size mouth at 4 7/16″ (we double and triple checked!) making this a great option for horse who needs a slightly smaller bit. Sweet iron mouth, hinge joint that prevents the nutcracker effect or collapsing on the tongue without adding correction. Has a swept back shank that measures 7 1/8″. This bit has seen light use. There is a bit of play at the side of the mouth, where it meets the shank, but appears to be built that way. Either way, this bit has a nice weight and feel, very well balanced. You don’t see ones like this very often!
