Sometimes, people drive us absolutely nuts. This stunning bit was found in a 5 gallon bucket, stored in a shed for years, that was far from weather tight. Needless to say, the bit was often full of water and every single bit from that bucket was covered in rust–including this one. We’ve cleaned it up quite a bit, but are not in the restoration business, so this one needs a bit more work. That being said, this one is stunning and with more attention will shine again! While not marked, the side concho and plate on the shank each acid tests sterling. The side concho has Diablo’s famed engraving pattern, so its a safe guess that at the very least, the large side conchos are sterling. This bit is a solid steel bit with a blued finish, but the bluing has come off quite a bit as we worked to get the rust off. Shockingly, the sterling is not damaged. Despite its years of neglect, this bit is sound, tight, and very well balanced. In a classic “grazing bit” style with fixed mouth and cheeks, 5″ sweet iron mouth that is thicker in diameter with a low/wide port. Shanks measure 8.25″. A bit of attention, you will have a heck of a pretty bit.
