15″ Desoto Endurance X-Wide Saddle

This is such a cool saddle! There’s a reason that Desoto Saddles remain incredibly popular despite their limited production now, and now that we’ve had one in, we can totally see why! Made by Marilyn Horstmyer, who is a legendary endurance rider, taking her own frustrations, experience, and education to make a truly comfortable, safe, lightweight, and well-fitting saddle. This saddle is a true 15″ saddle with a very deep seat bed, high cantle, and offers ample padding on the seat. The seat shape is very scoopy with a pencil roll. Has an endurance style pommel (hornless) that is narrower in diameter, making it a great grab handle. On a VERY wide fitting, measuring 8.5″ with a ton of shoulder flare, is wide thru the whole tree, with moderate rock to the bars. This would fit a #landhippo well that has a bit of shape to their topline. Think a Fjord, Welsh, Halfie, or similar built horse or pony. This cool saddle came in as a refurb project for us and darn near everything has been replaced. Rigging has been replaced and reinforced, has all new hardware, seat has been re-padded, and all necessary repairs made. This saddle has all new ‘guts’ but still has that perfect, broken in feel. This saddle has fixed western style center fire rigging, which we have added loop through (and removable) dressage billets–so can be use with either an English girth or western cinch. Has western style fenders that have narrower stirrup leathers in nylon, which helps reduce bulk, wear, and stretching. Has all new stainless hardware, has a ton of rings for your packs, and could easily have strings added. No tooling on this one, offering very soft leather in a sharp two-toned look with dark oiled leather and black on the pommel, seat, and cantle binding. This one has seen plenty of ride time, but has been very well cared for. Very soft leather, showing normal and minor signs of use and wear–and remember, it has had a full facelift! Does not come with stirrups. Incredibly lightweight as well, weighing just 18lbs. This is an outstanding saddle, one that is incredibly comfortable and functional.
