4.75″ Herm Sprenger KK Ultra Bradoon Snaffle

4.75″ lightly used Herm Sprenger KK Ultra 12mm Bradoon snaffle. Lovely bit, one of our personal favorites. This one is narrower diameter, either 12mm or 14mm, 55mm (2 5/8″) rings. Remember, HS bits are measuring hole to hole, not ring to ring. In Aurigan, in very used condition showing just a few very minor teeth marks. Per the maker:

Herm Sprenger KK Ultra bits are adapted to the anatomy of the horse’s mouth. KK Ultra Bits were developed after extensive research at the Veterinary University in Hanover, Germany. The results revealed some new findings: the interior volume of the mouth was less than previously thought and the palate was smaller and flatter. Therefore, the space left for a bit is quite limited. KK Ultra bits take advantage the research and of the exceptional sensitivity of the tongue by shortening the link and turning the link 45 degrees. These two changes caused the link to rest fully on the tongue without squeezing or pinching it. With the link resting fully on the tongue the sense of touch is utilized and clear instructions can be passed through the reins.

Made from Herm Sprenger’s Aurigan material, which promotes a delicate and sensitive connection to the horse. It instills a pleasant taste, encourages salivation and promotes bit acceptance. Distinctively unique, this metal is a propriety blend of copper, zinc and manganese. A reduced copper content allows some oxidation to occur, but the addition of manganese regulates and slows oxidation which in turn slows discoloration. Manganese is also an important micronutrient for horses, as a crucial component and activator of enzymes.
