Here is a trusty, rusty dressage saddle. No, she isn’t the prettiest of saddles, but she is sounds and will support a rider like only a true classic can. There is a reason why SO many riders start their careers off with these saddles. In fact, the Tristan was one of the ‘go to’ saddle models for the Austrian riding school and many are still in use there. Classical dressage trainers love these saddles as they truly demand the rider to be aware of their equitation without any of the ‘modern handicaps’ (per George Morris) of modern dressage saddles. This lovely Stubben Tristan is a true 17.5″ with an open, flatter seat while still having a narrow twist. Per serial number, this one has 31.5cm tree, which is Stubben’s Wide tree, measuring 5″, with an “U” Framed tree and ample clearance. Very short panel at 19″. This one is a longer, straighter flap at 16.5″ with very low blocks. 4 billets on this one, including a slightly forward set quasi-point billet. Billets are sound, would benefit from a reflock in the near future as the panels are getting hard. This one is decades old and is in remarkable condition given its age. Has minor scuffs and scrapes, is missing both of its blue buttons, sweat flaps are a bit dry, but nothing is out of line. This saddle is sound as the day is long. She’s ready for more riding and is an affordable option for a quality saddle.
