17″ Pessoa Close Contact Saddle English Saddle

Here is the absolute perfect English saddle for a rider who is wanting to upgrade to something a bit nicer, that is perfect for 4H or breed shows–all the while still being incredibly affordable.  While an older one from Pessoa, it was made when their leather quality was far better and is so soft! This one is a true 17″, offering a narrow twist, semi-deep seat that is also a bit wider and rides like a more secure hunter seat. On Pessoa’s Medium Tree, measuring 4.5″ with a wider channel and slightly curvier tree. This is a great option for a typical, QH type horse. Offers a semi-forward flap with a high knee block under the flap, making this perfect for popping over jumps while still having a wider flap that has the ‘right’ profile for Hunter Under Saddle or flat classes. We love the look of the saddle as well, with a subtle two-tone look. This saddle is often called Pessoa’s Chaumont, while not it’s formal model name, it means it’s made from calf leather. And boy, is that calf leather soft and grippy! While older, it has been very, very well cared for. The leather is incredibly soft, clearly oiled often. Does have a few signs of use and wear, mainly in the form of a bit of darkening on the flap from leathers, has a few teeny scuffs, but overall it’s a lovely saddle. Billets are in excellent condition. This is just a nice little saddle, one with a modern look and is so darn affordable!
