18″ Karl Niedersuss Dressage Saddle

This saddle offers so much history and skill, it’s insane! Karl Niedersuss saddles have been chosen by the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, the Austrian National Team, the Dutch National Team, and many other European and North American champion dressage riders. It was so cool to see these saddles in use at the Spanish Riding School! Karl Niedersuss was an official saddler to the 1988 Olympics and his saddlery has practiced the art of saddle making for over 200 years. For riders who appreciate the classics–this saddle is for you! It offers a true 18″ seat with a more open/shallow seat with a very narrow twist. On a true wide tree, with the gullet measuring 6″. This one has a wider channel too, shorter tree points and a slightly curved tree making this a perfect option for those chunkier horses out there. Think Welsh, Fjord, Halfie, or chunkier QH type horse. This one offers a straighter flap with moderate/low blocking, which is still supportive but doesn’t confine your leg. Again, perfect for riders who love the classics! This one has had a full strip flocking, so is sporting all brand new wool! It has also had a full inspection, down to the tree. We are absolutely obsessed with the color! Yes, it’s a rich chestnut brown. It is the perfect way to thumb your nose at all the black leather in the dressage community, without standing out too much. This is an older saddle, but has been well cared for with soft leather. Billets rare in great condition. Does show some age and wear, mainly in the form of some darkening on the flaps from leathers and has some surface cracking on the seat. This cracking is a very typical age related cosmetic blemish in English/Dressage saddles so nothing unusual, but something to keep an eye on. This is a quality, well made, and incredibly affordable dressage saddle. One that you can be sure will last for years to come.
