22′ Vintage Handmade Mecate Reins

These are nice! Truly a multi use piece of tack-easily could be used for a lunge line as well as metates. While not branded, this set came from a long time collector of high end tack. He remembers these to be a custom set he purchased in the late 1970’s in Scottsdale, AZ. The material is soft, yet a bit stiff. Seems to be a cotton blend type material, in tightly woven tan and rust brown. 1/2″ diameter, 22′ total length, with leather popper on one end horsehair at the other. In excellent used condition, doesn’t show any snags, only a bit of discoloration in a couple spots-typical of use. This is a lovely set with a great feel in your hands.
