14.5” Langerud Custom Association Ranch Saddle

It is getting harder and harder to get ahold of a used Langerud Custom Saddle, especially now that he is mostly retired, so it’s worth taking advantage of the rare used ones. Especially one in this condition! Nearing 25 years old, you’d never know. This is a true working saddle, but this one hasn’t had a hard day of work in its life and has been incredibly well cared for. Built on a Bowden Association ranch tree, reinforced in all the right places but isn’t as heavy as many rope saddles. It is a 15″ tree, but fits and measures true to 14.5″ with ample padding on the seat and a deeper cantle. On wide fitting QH bars, measuring 7″ by 7″ (high) offering plenty of flare through the front of the tree, slightly shorter front bars, and moderate rock through the bars. This one is made to work, and fit a horse well. The tree is bullhide wrapped, with a 3″ post horn that can take a rope and dally. Very classic in its design, made from a rich mahogany colored leather from Wickett & Craig, all brass hardware, and attractive basketweave tooling. Finished off with plenty of strings. Fenders are pre-turned and offer a ton of adjustment. We love the reinforced and angled larger front rigging ring to help open up the shoulder. The leather on this one is butter soft! While it is technically a working saddle, this one has been a very part-time employed trail saddle and a spoiled one at that. Aside from a few minor scuffs and scrapes and a teeny bit of darkening on the fenders, you’d never know this is an ‘older’ saddle from Cliff. If you are looking for a light saddle, this one isn’t for you as its built to hold up to real work and weighs in at about 39lbs. Get this stunning saddle, made by our favorite saddle, Cliff Langerud for a heck of a price, knowing your investment will last well into the next generation (or two).
