14″ B&B Saddlery Association Roping Saddle

This saddle is an absolute hog and clearly has worked hard for a living. While this saddle isn’t the prettiest out there, it’s a heck of a work saddle and won’t break the budget. From B&B Saddlery of Oregon, which appears to have closed down decades ago-which is a darn shame as they clearly knew how to build a work saddle. This hog is an Association/Bear Trap roper, punchy as heck, and despite looking like it doesn’t have much to it, it’ll throw out your back as it weighs all of 40lbs. Measures and fits true to 14″ with a deep, scoopy seat, slick seat, deeper cantle with rawhide pencil roll. Has substantial post/pelican bill roper horn that is reinforced right and tight. On an Association tree with QH Bars, measuring 6.5″ with moderate flare and rock through the bars. This will fit an athletic horse well. Given the tree shape, this would work for a mule, too. Dark oiled leather that is a heavier ounce, has a bit of basketweave tooling, and comes fully fitted. Its been gone through recently and has had newer conchos added to it. Reinforced, overlayed/in skirt rigging that ties directly into the tree, stabilizing multiple points of the tree. Fenders go crazy long and offer plenty of adjustment. This saddle isn’t very pretty, but its one that you can work off of and trust. It has lots of dings, scuffs, scrapes, and proof of daily ranching. Horn has been recently leather/mule wrapped but does show some rope burning. The wool underside is starting to thin and bald in places, bit of curling to the skirts, but is sound as the day is long. Heck, go talk to any rancher and see if they’ve made it to their 40s without some scars, haha. Just like those ranchers, they are ready for more work for decades to come.
