This saddle is one of those ‘trusty rusty’ saddles, one that is nearing what we call vintage, but boy is it sound. This saddle is a total hog, weighing in at 41lbs and is made to work! This Big Horn is made in the old Bull Dogger style, with a very wide cantle binding, lower/wider seat, bear trap swells, and a post horn. Its truly built to rope and work. Fits/measures 15.5″ on a surprisingly wide tree, fitting like Full QH Bars that measures 7″ with a wider flare and just a bit of rock to the bars. In dark oiled leather with no tooling but some fancy stitching accents with a cool braiding over the swells. Ofers in skirt rigging that is solid brass, and if we were to guess all rigging plates are Bork. This saddle is OLD, likely from the late 1960s or early 1970s, but we’ve gone through every inch of this saddle and it’s sound as the day it was may. Is it pretty?…no, its not a pretty saddle. This one has worked for a living and has been roped off of, showing some rope burns no the horn, some scuffs and scrapes here and there, and some curling to the skirts, but again this one is ready to ride. This saddle is made from heavier ounce leather and is butter soft, like incredibly soft. Despite clearly seeing plenty of work, its also clear its seen lots of care. This one is ready to ride and work for the next few decades. With its weight and construction, it would be a great colt backer or hunting/packing rig. At this price, you can’t go wrong.
