15.5″ Hereford Tooled Roping Saddle

$545.00

Here is a quality, well build saddle, one that will hold up to some work. Build in the old ‘duck bill’ equitation roper style, designed to be a durable, multi-purpose saddle without the weight or length of a roper. The horn is a true duck bill horn, and while not a roping horn, is reinforced and will hold up to dragging some logs or light dallying. Offers a 15.5″ seat that is quite deep, while still having a lower profile cantle. On what appears to be Semi Bars, measuring 6.25″ with a more angular tree through the whole tree.  Offering some flare, low rock, with ample wither clearance. This is a great option for a strong withered, more athletic horse such as an Appendix or OTTB. In a pretty, medium oiled leather that has pretty, classic floral tooling. Fenders have an insane amount of adjustment with room for more holes if needed. Built on a wood tree, but with the shorter, faux double skirt, it isn’t as heavy as many of these older saddles. Finished off with heavy duty brass rigging, strings for your packs, and comes fully fitted. This is a single owner saddle, purchased brand new and well cared for. We can’t quite decipher the serial number, but it’s owner remember buying it in the mid 1980’s and given the style, that seems about right. Despite being an older saddle, it has been well cared for, showing minor/typical signs of use such as a few scuffs, minor spots of discoloration, but still less than you’d expect. It’s rider has been retired for a while, so has been in storage. Leather has dried a bit, but a bit of attention has already helped. These quality saddles last, and they can be budget friendly. This one is ready to ride!
