Is this the prettiest saddle…no. Is this the coolest saddle around….also no. Think of this saddle like the big kneed old red ranch gelding that many of us have in the pasture. Not the prettiest thing, has ugly legs, but is trust worthy and as hard working as any you’ll find. This vintage Circle Y Roper has worked for a living, and it does show. But boy, is this a heck of a work saddle. It’s on a bullhide wrapped wood tree, on Full QH bars that measure 7″ fitting low and wide, with moderate rock. It will fit a horse well. This one measures 15″, however has a really deep seat bed and higher cantle, fitting true to 14.5″. This saddle will hold a cow well with a heavy duty and reinforced post =horn that measures 3.5″ x 3″–and has a brand new horn wrap. At some point, this one has lots its serial number plate, but does have the screw holes where it was set and is marked Circle Y on the fenders. Given its age and clear use, we’ve gone over this one with a fine tooth comb and it’s sound as the day is long, just a bit ugly. If you’re looking for a light weight saddle….this one isn’t for you. When we say heavy duty, we mean it. This hog weighs in at 44lbs, but it’s the exact saddle you want at the end of your rope. This saddles does show some discoloration, minor scuffs and scrapes, some minor wear to the horn, but is sound! Comes with a set of wide roper stirrups, rear latigos, and new horn wrap. Leather is softer than you’d expect for a working rig, but would absolutely benefit from a bit more conditioner. This is a really nice older saddle, one that is ready for decades more work..and would be a heck of a colt starter. At this price, you can’t go wrong!
