15″ Vintage Circle Y Roping Saddle

$199.00

This is an OLD Circle Y, made before they were serialized with a plate or under the fender, with the serial number behind the cantle. If we are reading it correctly, this one is from 1961. So, old enough for a pension or AARP membership. But also proof that these older, quality saddles with literally outlast a few riders. Build in an older style that is often called a Bull Dogger with a wider, shallower seat with lower cantle. This one doesn’t quite have the robust horn that many bull doggers have, it’s still stout enough to hold a rope. On what appears to be Semi QH bars that measure 6″ with wider shoulder flare and flatter through the bars. This will fit an old style QH type horse well. 15″ seat, fits true to measurement. Build on a wood tree, is quite substantial and plenty hevy duty In skirt rigging. Has very adjustable fenders that go short enough for a youth rider, but plenty long enough for adults. Does not come with stirrups. This one was made when each piece of the saddle was handmade in shop–you just don’t see these details anymore! Even has real shearling (wool) underside. Despite being an older saddle, it’s clear it’s been well cared for. The leather is quite soft. Does show its age in a few places–the shearling underside does have a few balding spots, has some scuffs and scrapes, but it’s sound and tight. This one is still ready to be a daily rider, but is substantial enough to be a colt starter or ‘sacrifice’ saddle for a horse who can’t quite yet be trusted with the nice tack. At this price, you really can’t go wrong.
