16.5″ SM Saddlery All Around Ranch Saddle

We don’t recognize this brand, which is a shame as this is a darn nice saddle. From SM Saddler Makers of Yoakum, TX. If we had to guess, this was made by a saddler that was trained by one of the “Big Three” (Circle Y, Ammerman, TexTan/Hereford), as it has that look. Either way, we are impressed with this saddle. Is a nice cross between a ranch cutter and all around saddle, with a slightly taller reinforced horn, reinforced rigging like a roper, padded comfortable seat like a trail saddle, and profile of a ranch saddle. This one is comfortable enough for all day riding, one that will hold up to ranch work, and pretty enough for the ranch horse classes. Offers a 16.5″, but does fit a bit more snug than that with a deeper seat bed and narrower thigh space. On Semi QH Bars that measure 6.25″ with an “A” framed three shape with moderately wide shoulder flare. Is A framed through the tree with lower rock. This is a great option for an athletic built horse who is narrower in the spine while being wider through the shoulder and barrel. Has good wither clearance as well. Has very heavy duty, large reinforced rigging. Equitation cut skirt to give your leg a close contact feel. Free swinging fenders that offer a ton of adjustment. Roughed out over the jockeys and fenders, this is one that gives you ample security. Has unique tooling with a mix of a geometric stamp and wider border with barbed wire, in medium oiled leather. While we don’t know this saddle’s age, it’s clearly been well cared for. The leather is very soft, showing typical signs of use and wear. This is one that is up for work but sure pretty enough for the show pen. At this price, you really can’t go wrong.
