16″ Langerud Custom Ranch Cutting Saddle

This one may not look like a typical Langerud saddle, it sure is. It is getting harder and harder to get ahold of a used Langerud Custom Saddle, especially now that he is “mostly” retired, so it’s worth taking advantage of the rare used ones. Especially one in this condition! This is a true multi-arena saddle. It’s a rancher cutter style, but is perfect for a working/ranch saddle, comfortable enough for a daily rider, and pretty enough for ranch classes. Built on a Bowden Buster Welch Working Cow tree, reinforced in all the right places. On a 16″ tree, fitting true to that. Rides very securely with a deeper seat bed, full roughed out leather over the hard seat, jockeys, and fenders. On QH Bars that measure 6.5″ by 7″ (high) offering plenty of flare through the front of the tree, slightly shorter front bars, and moderate rock through the bars. This one is made to work, and fit a horse well. 3.5″ cow horse horn that’s reinforced and could safely dally a bit. Despite being a bit of an older saddle, this one has a very modern feel. With a subtle two-tone look. Made from all Wickett & Craig, with dark oiled skirts and pommel that are fully stamped. The horn and cantle binding have rawhide detailing that is really sharp. Finished off with heavy duty stainless hardware and a sharp custom concho. Too often, these saddles have skirts a mile long. This one isn’t terribly long and is equitation cut, giving your leg a close contact feel. Comes fully fitted. Doesn’t come with its original stirrups. They are used, but nothing fancy. If you are looking for a light saddle, this one isn’t for you as its built to hold up to real work and weighs in at about 39lbs. While older, it has been very well cared for and we’ve gone over this one–it’s as sound as the day it was built. It’s one that is pretty enough to show and hardy enough to work.
