This is a heck of a bit, made by Doyle Stanfill. Doyle is a 90-something year young cowboy who has an incredible history in the equine industry, proving everyday that age is just a number. He is known for his expert ironwork, making brilliantly balanced bits and spurs. This one is really unique, so unique in fact, he has only made a couple in this style. The shank is designed to look like a spur shank, with free spinning rowels at the end of the shank. Talk about detail! Each shank are fully mounted with silver overlay that has incredible engraving and detail. Nice, slightly larger mouth at 5 1/4″, mullen mouth with A framed port that measures 2 3/8″, bars are wrapped in copper wire. Does move at the shanks. The shanks measure 7″ to bottom of rein ring. This is quite a weighty bit, heavier than most but is still well balanced. In unused condition, from a long time collector’s collection. With his age, these will become rare. Grab it while you can!
