This is such a cool old saddle from Colorado Saddlery. While we can’t be sure of its age, this one is likely from the early 1980s. Despite it being older, this one is proof that quality tack will last! This one is a cross between a roper and a bull-dogger, offering a reinforced post horn, A fork swells, and a lower cantle with a wider cantle binding. This one is on a 16″ tree, but with the seat shape and padding, fits true to a 15″. On QH bars that measure 6.75″ with a wide fork angle and moderate rock to the bars. This one fits low and wide, perfect for a horse who is wider with wide shoulders, a bit of shape to their top line, and lower withers. Build on a wood tree, reinforced in all the right places–this saddle is built to work. Offers a substantial post horn with a larger horn cap, this one will hold a rope just fine. All dark oiled leather with a bit of hand tooled accents that are very pretty, with a fancy boot stitched leather seat. This saddle is heavy duty, but is lighter than some as it has a rounded, faux double skirt. While older, it had been well cared for but of course, saddles start showing their age. We did a face life on this one–has all new screws, leather rosettes, strings, rope tie, and conchos. We also made a few cosmetic repairs and oiled the heck out of it. The leather is butter soft. After it’s face lift, this saddles shows far less use than you’d expect for a saddle of this age. This is a stout, heavy duty saddle. Perfect for ranching, packing, hunting ect but also comfortable enough for daily riding. At this price, you really can’t go wrong. This one has plenty more decades in it!
