17″ Passier Patron Dressage Saddle

The Patron Dressage saddle by Passier, despite being discontinued for some time, has remained an incredibly popular model among riders who appreciate the more classic design, balance, and feel of these older saddles.  The Patrol was designed with input from some of the top dressage riders, including the Austrian riding school, to develop a saddle that is supportive of the classically trained rider as well as the casual rider. Classical riders don’t care for bold blocks or scoopy seats, instead wanting a saddle that develops and supports sound equitation. While more simple in design as compared to many modern saddles, this one will be sure to develop a heck of a seat and leg. Per serial number, this one is a 17″, but does fit generously and paired with the longer flap, this is perfect for a leggy rider.  Per serial number, this one is on Passier’s Standard Medium tree (27.5cm). We feel this one fits more like a Medium Narrow given the tree shape. It does measure deceptively wide at 4.5″. It offers a high-head type tree, offering great wither clearance, with a wider channel that is great for a horse with a wider spine. Think TB/OTTB or appendix type horse. Has a straighter, longer flap that measures 17′, with a low/long block under the knee roll. More of an open style seat with a very narrow twist. This is an older saddle (1993 model) and has been ridden in a ton and loved a lot. It’s shows use, but also shows plenty of care. Billets have been replaced not too long ago, leather is still quite soft, but does show some blemishes. Mainly in the form of discoloration that is mainly on the seat, some scuffs and scrapes, and a few naughty baby horse bit marks on the seat. Shockingly, the bit marks are completely superficial, but noticeable. We’ve fully inspected this saddle and it’s sound, but will benefit from a re-flock sooner rather than later. Shows minor bumps and bruises from use, but again for a saddle of this age, it’s in lovely used condition. This is a great quality, affordable saddle!
